The male and female defending champions in Sunday’s Jamaica Gun Club Sporting Clays Classic are rearing to get on their stations for the 10:00 am shotgun start to begin the defense of their titles.

The husband and wife pair of Ray and Wendy McMaster have been shooting well since the start of the year and expect that to continue at the Woodleigh Sheeting Estate in Clarendon.

Ray will have to contend with several top marksmen who were in the field last year.

They include Chad Ziadie and Brett Thwaites who shot a similar score of 92.

Some of the other top shooters from last year are six-time national shotgun champion Shaun Barnes and Jordan Thwaites who shot 91 each as well as junior shooter Nathan Chin 90.

There will also be keen competition on the female side with defending champion Wendy taking on her daughter Aliana who has been getting the better of her quite frequently.

Competition is expected to come from multi discipline shooter and Alpha Angel competitor Renee Rickhi, Tara Brown, Lori-Anne Harris, Abigail and Leanne McMaster.

The seventeen station course will accommodate well over one hundred competitors in several competitive classes from A – E, hunters or beginners, ladies, juniors and sub-juniors.
