The St. Andrew North Police are warning the public of an organised crime ring that’s driving an increase in the theft of motor vehicles across several communities.

Superintendent Sherika Service heads the police division.

The JCF’s Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Branch, CTOC, has been called in to assist with investigating the rise in incidents of car theft in the division.

Forty-five vehicles have been stolen in the division, in the first five months this year, compared to 90 in all of 2023.

Superintendent Service provided a list of some of the communities being targeted.

And Superintendent Service says most of the vehicles being stolen in the St. Andrew North Police division are taken after midnight.
