Councillor for the Siloah Division in St Elizabeth, Audie Myers, is requesting that each councillor receive at least $6 million dollars to assist residents at the local level.
His call for action follows the recent announcement by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, for Members of Parliament to receive $21 million for upcoming Christmas work.
The money is being allocated to carry out road rehabilitation, de-bushing, and other activities across the island’s 63 constituencies.
But Councillor Myers says he heard no mention of local government members.
Myers points out, that as Councillors, they too have a mandate and responsibilities in their respective divisions.
