Minister of Education and Youth, Fayval Williams, has ordered the closure of the New Discoveries Daycare and Preschool in St James with immediate effect.
The order was given based on a report of child abuse submitted to the Early Childhood Commission, ECC, on Thursday, January 19.
The ECC says the evidence accompanying the report was later submitted between the hours of 6 pm and 8 pm on the same day.
An investigation was done by the Early Childhood Commission on January 20, after which the findings were shared with Minister Williams.
According to the ECC, a report has been submitted to the Child Protection and Family Services Agency, CPFSA, which commenced an investigation on Friday.
The ECC says the children of the institution will be relocated to other early childhood institutions.
It added that a virtual meeting has also been scheduled to discuss the matter further with all parents.
The ECC says collaborative counselling sessions will be provided by them and the CPFSA.
