State Minister in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, Robert Nesta Morgan, says young people in Jamaica have become disenfranchised from the education system since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Minister was speaking at a press conference which introduced the new national youth leaders of the Youth Advisory Council of Jamaica, the National Youth Council of Jamaica and the Jamaica Union of Tertiary Students.

The leaders are charged with the responsibility for the development, implementation and management of policies and programmes designed to meet the needs of Jamaican youths.

Minister Morgan says youth organizations are needed to give the young citizens a voice.

According Morgan, his Ministry is seeking to ensure youths are front and center in the decision making process of matters concerning them.
