The Statistical Institute of Jamaica, STATIN, says it’s redoubling its efforts in recruiting census takers as it has not yet met its target of workers for the 2022 Population and Housing Census.
Director of STATIN, Carol Coy, says they’ve yet to reach the desired complement.
STATIN added that most of its administrative process-related issues affecting the initial phase of the census have been resolved.
The National Population and Housing Census, which began last September, was slated for completion within three months.
However, the exercise was extended into the first quarter of 2023.
It’s now scheduled to end in March.
Ms. Coy indicated that the Institute will continue to address concerns as they arise.
Ms. Coy noted that a communication awareness campaign will be boosted to support the continuation of the Census.
