The Jamaica Fire Brigade sergeant who climbed to the highest point of the Half Way Tree Transport centre in St. Andrew Tuesday morning, says he has never been diagnosed with any mental illness, contrary to what people may think.
Sergeant Leo Bennett, spent close to six hours atop the transport centre. After hours of negotiation, he climbed down on his own.
When we spoke to him earlier from his perch, he told us he was drawing attention to the disregard shown to the welfare of firefighters.

Meanwhile, Psychiatrist Dr. Saphire Longmore who assisted in de-escalating the situation, says she hopes the Fire Brigade doesn’t penalise Sergeant Bennett for his actions.

Dr. Longmore confirmed that Sergeant Bennett was in a logical state of mind.
