In a move that will again cause anger in Beijing, the President of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-Wen, is set to lead a delegation on an official visit to Belize in early April.
President Tsai will meet with Belize’s Prime Minister John Briceno, the Cabinet and other members of parliament, as well as deliver an address at a Joint Sitting of Parliament.
This will be President Tsai’s second visit to Belize during her two terms as President.
Last week the Government of Belize declared its continued recognition of Taiwan as a sovereign and independent nation.
China sees Taiwan not as an independent state, but as a breakaway province under Beijing’s control.
