Opposition MP, Mikael Phillips, says the government is not taking the maintenance of the country’s infrastructure seriously.

He says the budget simply doesn’t provide enough resources to the National Works Agency in order tackle the issue.

Mr. Phillips was making his contribution to the Sectoral Debates earlier this week.

He also says Jamaican contractors are not treated equally compared to foreigners in the construction sector.

The Opposition MP, is calling on the government to work toward improving the capacity of local players in the construction industry through training and certification.
