A group calling itself the One Voice Taxi Association, says it’s shocked at what it describes as the dismissive manner in which the government has treated yesterday’s strike by public passenger operators.
The Holness administration has refused the operators demands for a traffic ticket amnesty.
One Voice says it did not expect what it calls this colonial type of disrespect and disregard of its actions.
It says they are law abiding citizens who voted for the government and assisted in taking voters to polling divisions.
The group says it’s unapologetic about its withdrawal of services, however it does not encourage or support any kind of violence or forceful expression in support of its position.
One Voice says it does not support the position of the police that the zealous young male should be locked up for his action of removing persons from the taxi, as was seen in the video circulating online.
It’s also appealing to private sector colleagues of note, who have condemned the action of the operators, to do due diligence in investigating the complaints and be just and fair in their assessment.
