A taxi driver who’s accused of assaulting Government MP, Juliet Cuthbert Flynn, was today ordered to return to Court on October 28 this year.

Thirty-four-year-old Larue Spencer is charged with assault at common law.

Spencer appeared in the St. Catherine Criminal Court today.

He’s accused of using a knife and bottle in an attempt to menace Mrs. Cuthbert Flynn during an incident in Portmore.

Mrs. Cuthbert Flynn was reportedly in her motor vehicle which was in traffic when the incident happened.

The taxi driver told Judge Natalie Brooks today that he was under the impression that the MP was chasing his motor vehicle.

Spencer suggested that the issue be referred to mediation.

But attorneys for Mrs. Cuthbert Flynn declined the mediation offer.

Queen’s Counsel Tom Tavares Finson and his junior, Donahue Martin, are watching the case on behalf of the West Rural St. Andrew MP.

Mrs. Cuthbert Flynn is the Member of Parliament for West Rural St. Andrew.
