Opposition Spokesman on Education and former Education Minister, Reverend Ronald Thwaites, says the industrial action taken today by teachers was ‘avoidable’.

Reverend Thwaites, who’s also the Member of Parliament for Central Kingston, says negotiations between the disgruntled teachers and the government should have been completed last year.

Reverend Thwaites says the current wage offer from the Holness-administration would effectively leave the teachers in a worse position when the figures are adjusted for inflation.
