Education Minister Fayval Williams says teachers will be among the priority groups to receive COVID 19 vaccines when the jabs arrive on the island.

She says that will also include other persons essential to the operations of schools.

Minister Williams says she has also notified the Jamaica Teacher’s Association, JTA, of the development.

The JTA recently made a public appeal to the government to include teachers in the priority groups.

Minister Williams says there’ll be further discussion over the next few days to examine the options and criteria for prioritization among the various personnel in the education system.
