Spending on the government’s school textbook programme has been slashed by 65-percent over the past three years.
Information Minister Senator Sandrea Falconer made the revelation at a Jamaica House press briefing earlier this week.
Senator Falconer says the cuts will ensure greater efficiency in Government spending.

Kingston Bookshop has secured the bulk of the textbook contract, with a 101-million dollar contract to procure and distribute textbooks to schools.
The National Textbook Scheme provides textbooks on the major subject areas to students at the Grades 7-11 in High Schools and Grades 7-9 at the Primary, Junior High and All-Age Schools.
