Jamaica’s Olympic double sprint champion, Elaine Thompson-Herah, says she was in tears for two weeks after failing to secure an individual spot on the Jamaica team for the Budapest World Championship.
Thompson-Herah says she contemplated closing her season but decided against it after having a chat with her husband.
The national record holder and fastest woman alive placed third at the Zurich Diamond League meet on Thursday, behind World champion Sha’carri Richardson of the United States.
Thompson-Herah says she’s still working on aspects of her race and is confident she will be back to her best before the Paris Olympic Games next year.

Meanwhile, Shericka Jackson clocked 21.82 seconds for victory in Zurich to continue her dominance of the 200m event.
The back-to-back 200m World champion says she has to credit her coach for believing she could perform at this elite level when she herself thought she couldn’t.
