Opposition Spokeswoman on Education, Kamina Johnson Smith says portfolio Minister Ronald Thwaites must take decisive action in response to the growing number of schools being affected by the hand foot and mouth disease.

Senator Johnson Smith says the Government should have adopted the approach taken by the previous JLP administration, when it was faced with one case of the disease in 2010.

She says the entire school district was shut down.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministry will hold a press conference at 11:45 on Friday morning to address the outbreak of the disease.

Education Minister, Ronald Thwaites, is expected to update the nation on the status of schools affected by the disease and to provide information on how to treat those children affected.
