President of the Transport Operator Development Sustainable Services, TODSS, Egerton Newman, says he’s disappointed that the government has failed to provide clear information regarding the new Road Traffic Act.

Speaking with our news centre yesterday, Newman said his organisation is seeking legal counsel in order to decide how to move forward.

Newman noted that taxi operators need a public education campaign on the rules and regulations surrounding the new Road Traffic Act.

He also said the introduction of a digital traffic ticketing system will not be efficient in addressing the flaws in the system.

The government has urged motorists to settle their outstanding traffic tickets ahead of February 1, when the new Road Traffic Act is scheduled to take effect.
