Regional executive member of the Union Network International, UNI Americas, David Massiah, says there’s need for greater collaboration and unity of purpose across the region regarding workers’ rights.
He was speaking over the weekend at a joint meeting held by the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union, BITU and UNI Americas.
Saturday’s meeting, held at the BITU’s headquarters on Duke Street, under the theme “The Future World of Work in the Region”, focused on labour relations across the Caribbean and wider region.
Massiah later told our news centre that there’s need for a combined national conversation looking at economic development in respective countries across the region.
Meanwhile, Massiah says a unified approach is badly needed, but sorely missing.
The Antiguan says social dialogue must be the foundation of all discussions designed to protect workers and all other stakeholders.
