The Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services TODSS says its operators officially voted to reject the government’s proposed 15 percent fare increase to take effect on Monday.

TODSS revealed in a statement yesterday that there was a meeting of several stakeholders to vote on accepting the fare increase.

When the votes were counted 70 percent rejected the increase and instead requested an urgent meeting with the Minister of Transport and the Head of the Transport Authority.

In an interview with our news centre yesterday, the President of TODSS, Egerton Newman said the majority have spoken.

Mr. Newman is urging operators to charge passengers 100 hundred dollars.

He’s reiterating that operators should not hike their fares.

Meanwhile, the TODSS boss says the pandemic should not be an excuse not to increase fares.
