Transport Minister, Mike Henry, has ordered a report be submitted to his office by the Norman Manley International Airport regarding who at the entity discussed parking arrangements with the organizers of Sandz 2017.
The event caused a massive traffic congestion along the Palisadoes main road which is the only entrance to and from the country’s most trafficked airport
In a statement this afternoon, Minister Henry says the NMIA should’ve known fully the impact it could have on the free flow of traffic along the corridor during the Airport’s busiest period of the new year.
He says the warning came last year when there was also a traffic delay and this goes against the stated position of his Ministry, that no such party or entertainment event should be held between the Harbour View Round-About and the entrance to the Airport.
Minister Henry says it is regrettable that so many travellers were inconvenienced and such negative international spotlight shone on Jamaica so early in the New Year.
He says earlier plans should be revisited in order to prevent the country from bleeding from short-sighted visions.
