The Trelawny Police say they seized two firearms and ammunition during an operation in the parish on Thursday.
Reports are that at around 8 p.m. they stopped and searched a motor vehicle on the Salt Marsh main road. A bag containing two semi-automatic pistols fitted with cartridges were reportedly found.
According to the police additional cartridges were also found in the vehicle.
This represents the third gun seizure reported by the Jamaica Constabulary Force in the past five days.
A 9 mm pistol with ammunition was seized in St Catherine during an operation on Monday. An illegal firearm was seized and two men were taken into custody by Morant Bay Police following a search in Whitehorses, St. Thomas Thursday morning.
