Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton, says the government will resume the special incentive programme for healthcare workers who are directly in contact with COVID-19 patients.
This week the Jamaica Medical Doctors’ Association raised concerns on behalf of several doctors across the island, who said the payments were inconsistent.
At a Health Ministry digital media conference last evening, Dr Tufton said the programme budget had expired, resulting in workers not receiving payments.
But, Dr Tufton says the government is reinstating the incentive programme.
The Health Minister also responded to concerns that healthcare personnel are being overworked.
