Director of Family Health Services in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Dr. Melody Ennis, has disclosed that over 900 people turned out at the National Arena to receive their second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine during last Saturday’s vaccination blitz.

Speaking with our news center on Monday, Dr. Ennis says the turnout far exceeded the Ministry’s expectations.

The Director of Family Health Services says while there are plans in place for vaccination blitz campaigns across the island, the dates are not yet finalised.

Dr. Ennis also noted that currently all parishes are offering second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

However, persons scheduled to get their jabs in the blitz campaigns will receive calls from the Ministry.

A vaccination blitz, scheduled for later this month in St. James, is set to focus on tourism workers as part of the efforts to rebuild the tourism sector.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ennis is encouraging people who are set to receive their second vaccine dose in June to listen for calls on when the next blitz will occur.
