The Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees, UCASE, says it may be forced to take industrial action on behalf of workers it represents at WINDALCO bauxite company, owned by UC Rusal.

UCASE President, Vincent Morrison, says if UC Rusal insists on forcing contracts on workers they represent they’ll be forced to go to court to seek an injunction.

He says UC Rusal has been trying to force employees to sign individual contracts, despite the employees’ insistence their unionized.

Mr. Morrison says the workers are objecting to certain clauses in the new contracts which deny them redundancy and overtime payments.

He says the contracts also denies the workers holiday payments and don’t offer pension benefits.

Mr. Morrison says the contractual matter between UC Rusal and the unions is now before the Industrial Dispute Tribunal.
