The Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees, UCASE, has withdrawn the strike notice set to take effect on Thursday at the bauxite alumina company, UC Rusal.
The strike notice was withdrawn following a meeting with officials at the Ministry of Labour today.
Vincent Morrison is the President of UCASE.
Last week, more than 6-hundred production workers voted to strike following a breakdown in negotiations with the management.
According to UCASE, UC Rusal has offered workers a six percent wage increase in year one and another six percent raise in year two.
But it says the company is refusing to budge on any other item in the claim, including notice and redundancy payment, payment for public holidays and payment for overtime work.
Mr. Morrison says even as the workers agreed to stay on the job this week, they remain militant.
