The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has extended a flash flood watch for low lying and flood prone areas in a number of parishes across the island.
These are Hanover, St. James, Kingston and St. Andrew, Trelawny, St .Ann, St. Thomas, Portland and St. Mary.
The flash flood watch will remain in effect until 5:00 this afternoon.
The Met Service says a stationary front across the island continues to influence weather conditions.
It says satellite imagery and radar reports show that light to moderate showers affected sections of northern and southeastern parishes throughout yesterday.
The Met Service says the forecast is for mostly cloudy conditions with periods of showers and possible thunderstorms to continue to affect sections of most parishes throughout today.
The weather conditions are to especially affect northern and southeastern parishes.
The Met Service says the stationary front is expected to linger across the island up to Thursday.
Meanwhile, a small craft warning also remains in effect for offshore areas of the north and south coast due to strong winds and rough seas.
