Jamaicans are to see changes in the handling of medical information in the health care system.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness says US $8.4 million will be spent on an ICT component which will allow for the electronic access to patient’s health records.
The announcement comes alongside the redevelopment of the Spanish Town Hospital and will support information transfer across the other hospitals in the country.
Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says this will reduce the time spent on retrieving documents and accelerate the health care process.
The aim is to achieve a less time consuming and more efficient way of transferring patient information by using technology.
