The United States will provide an additional $2 billion in aid to Ukraine.

Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, made the announcement on Wednesday during a press conference in Kyiv.

The funding will be directed towards providing weapons for Ukraine in the near future.

Blinken described the financing support as “the first of its kind.”

He said the support will not only help to provide Ukraine with weapons, but will also help the country invest in its own defence industrial base in the long term.

The military financing support will also assist Kyiv with purchasing military equipment from other countries.
