The Guild of Students at the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies, says it’ll be launching a campaign to tackle gender based violence at the institution.

This follows a recent incident on campus where a female student suffered a horrific injury after being attacked by a male student.

The attack was said to be sexually motivated.

It also comes in the wake of claims that the administration at the UWI, has failed to address the issues concerning gender based violence on the campus.

Guild President Lerone Laing says he’s been having talks with the UWI’s leadership on the matter.

Mr. Laing says students have been consulted on how the school administration can tackle the issue of gender based violence.
