The Denham Town Health Centre has been temporarily closed due to what the Health Ministry says is the violence affecting the community.

Chairman of the Southeast Regional Health Authority, SERHA, Dr. Andrei Cooke, says the decision was made out of concern for the safety of staff and patients.

He says the facility will remain closed until conditions improve.

In the meantime, residents are encouraged to use the Edgerton Chin Loy and Comprehensive Health Centres.

The staff from the Denham Town Health Centre has been re-deployed to these facilities to help with the additional patient load.

SERHA says they will notify the public as soon as the health centre is reopened.
