World 400 metres record holder, Wayde Van Niekerk of South Africa, says his appearance at the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston next Saturday will mark one of the highlights of his season.

Van Niekerk, who will be making his second appearance at the Racers Grand Prix, says he loves Jamaica, its people, the culture and that Jamaicans are genuine track and field lovers.

In expressing his deep admiration for the country, Van Niekerk described it as the mecca of track and field and says the genuine passion and knowledge of the people is no surprise they’ve made unparalleled contribution to the sport at all levels.

Van Niekerk who will run in his pet event as part of his build-up to the World Championship this summer, is one of a host of global stars set to grace the meet which is returning after a three year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tobi Amusan, Noah Lyles, Hansle Parchment and Shericka Jackson are some of the other World and Olympic champions who’ll be on display.
