Head of Area One Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Clifford Chambers, is today reporting a decline in all major crimes in the parishes of Westmoreland, Hanover and St. James.

ACP Chambers added that, since the start of the year, rape has declined by 50 percent while robberies saw a 33 percent decrease.

However, the senior lawman says murder has seen a significant increase.

In the meantime, one hundred and nineteen Jamaicans have been murdered across the island in 31 days.

That’s according to the periodic crime statistics of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

St. James recorded the most murders so far.

Additionally, the parish also recorded the biggest jump in murder numbers for this year which stands at a 2 hundred and 80 percent increase when compared to the same period, last year.
