Four days after the unveiling of the new MOCA, a prominent member of civil society says a lack of trust in the police, is the reason the agency is being headed by a member of the Jamaica Defense Force, rather than the Constabulary.

Colonel Desmond Edwards, an army veteran, has been appointed to lead MOCA during a transitional period.

Executive member of the Jamaica Civil Society Coaltion, JCSC, Horace Levy, says this shows a lack of confidence in the JCF.

Mr. Levy is also raising concerns about MOCA’s reporting mechanism.

While expressing some hope that the merged anti-corruption agency will get results, Mr. Levy is concerned that overall, corruption is being tackled in a piecemeal manner.
