Guyana Harpy Eagles recovered from a slow start to reach 268 for 9 at stumps on day-1 of the regional 4-day cricket championships against the Jamaica Scorpions at Providence stadium in Guyana.

Leon Johnson led the recovery with an unbeaten century. Johnson’s 142 included 16-fours. He got support from Kevlon Anderson, 36, and Tevin Imlach, 46.

Marquino Mindley, Ojay Shields and Derval Green have so far taken two wickets each for the scorpions.

Meanwhile, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes reached 271 for 6 against the Windward Islands Volcanoes at the Brian Lara Academy. Kieran Powell, 70, Karima Gore with an unbeaten 87 and Kofi James, 61 not out, are the top run scorers so far.

Over at the Queens Park oval, Barbados Pride reached 40 without loss in their match against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force. Zachary McCaskie, 21, and Sheyne Moseley, 19, are the not batsmen for the Pride.

Earlier, the Red Force were bowled out for 203 in their first innings. Jason Mohammed 55, Joshua Da Silva 32 and Tion Webster 46 made the runs Trinidad and Tobago.

Chaim Holder bagged five wickets, while Jair McAllister picked up three the Pride.
