England beat the West Indies by 6-wickets in their first One Day International at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
Chasing 361 to win the visitors reached the target with 10-balls to spare. Jason Roy made 123 while skipper Joe Root made 102. Earlier, Chris Gayle scored a century in guiding the Windies to 360 for 8. Gayle’s 135 included 3-fours and 12-sixes. Shai Hope made 64, John Campbell 30 and Darren Bravo 40. Stokes and Adil Rashid each took three wickets.
The Windies broke the record for the number of sixes in an ODI innings. The Caribbean side hit a record 23 sixes in the first One Dayer against England.
Chris Gayle hit 12 as they went past the previous best set by New Zealand against the Windies in January 2014. Darren Bravo struck four while Ashley Nurse accounted for two in the 48th over.
Devendra Bishoo leveled the record, before Nurse sent Rashid over the long-on boundary off the last ball to give the Windies a 23rd maximum.
Gayle also set a personal record moving past Shahid Afridi with the most sixes in international cricket.
