The Court of Appeal has set aside a decision to disbar Attorney- at- Law and Former Deputy Commissioner of Police, Owen Clunie.
Mr. Clunie, was among a group of eight attorneys who were brought before the Disciplinary Committee of The General Legal Council, GLC, for alleged professional misconduct in 2013.
Following the GLC hearing, Mr. Clunie was struck off the list of practicing attorneys in Jamaica.
He subsequently appealed the ruling.
Today, the Appeals Court allowed the appeal in part, canceling the decision to disbar Clunie.
Mr. Clunie’s attorney, Andre Earle, says the court has also sent the case back to a panel of the disciplinary committee of the GLC to hear submissions in mitigation and to determine the appropriate sanctions.
