National Security Minister, Peter Bunting this morning announced the merger of the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Taskforce, MOCA and the Police Anti-Corruption Branch, ACB.
The new unit will be called the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, retaining the acronym MOCA.
Minister Bunting says the merged agency will target and bring to justice, the kingpins of criminal networks, along with corrupt public officials.
The Security Minister says the merged entity will give law enforcement greater reach and increase its capacity to carry out investigations on persons of interest.

A Jamaica Defence Force Colonel, Theodore Edwards has been called in to head the new unit.
Colonel Edwards has been seconded from his previous responsibility for the JDF’s policy on operations, training, intelligence and communication.
