Chief Public Health Inspector in the St. James Health Department, Lennox Wallace, says 14 food establishments have been closed under ‘Operation Restore Paradise’.

Under the operation, a further 80 notices have been issued.

Operation Restore Paradise is a 90- day beautification project taking place in St. James.

Chief Inspector Wallace says almost 8-hundred thousand dollars of food that’s unfit to eat have been seized.

Chief Inspector Wallace says the measures are being taken to ensure establishments meet health standards.

He says the People’s Arcade is cause for concern as sewage from the facility is entering the nearby beach.

This project has allowed the Health Department, the police, the St. James Municipal Authority, the Jamaica Public Service, the National Water Commission and other organizations to aid in restoring the community under the State of Emergency.
