16% of Jamaica’s population will be seniors by 2030 – Charles Jr.

Social security minister, Pearnel Charles Jr., says by the year 2030, 16 per cent of Jamaica’s population will be classified as senior citizens.

Minister Charles Jr. was speaking during the post-cabinet media briefing on Wednesday at the Office of the Prime Minister.

The minister’s words come as the country observes Senior Citizens Month from September 1 to October 8. It’s being observed under the theme: Honouring a Gold Legacy, Shaping a Bold Future”.

Minister Charles Jr. says he wants to see more seniors join the National Council for Senior Citizens.
