All first responders are now able to ride free on all buses belonging to the Jamaica Urban Transit Company and the Montego Bay Metro Company.

The announcement was made by Transport Minister; Robert Montague in the House of Representatives this afternoon.

These persons include but are not limited to all doctors, nurses, porters, hospital staff, public ambulance drivers, public health inspectors, members of the correctional services, JDF and the police force.

Minister Montague says in order to ride free, each person must provide a valid identification card linked to their profession.

He’s also commending the hard work of all first responders at this difficult time.

The Minister also used the opportunity to rubbish rumours surrounding the transport sector including the suggestion that the JUTC would be sold to China Harbour Engineering Company.
