A local environmentalist, Peter Espeut, says Prime Minister Andrew Holness should take blame for his alleged mismanagement of Jamaica’s environment.
According to Mr. Espeut, the prime minister’s management of the Cockpit Country, is the opposite of what he is saying at the COP26 summit.
Espeut argues that while he agrees that climate change should be treated with urgency, he says late shall be our cry.
He says the environment has been sacrificed for monetary gain.

That’s how Mr. Espeut described the Prime Minister’s management of the country’s environment.
According to Espeut, the Cockpit Country has been left at the mercy of unsustainable mining.
He explained that the government has facilitated a monetary trade off, between livelihood and the environment.
Espeut says although Jamaica has not been severely hit by a hurricane recently, the island will not be spared forever.
