Transport Minister Daryl Vaz has announced that an additional 100 buses are to be added to the fleet of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, JUTC.
In a post on X, Minister Vaz says the public investment management committee of the Ministry of Finance granted approval for the procurement.
Minister Vaz says the latest procurement will increase the number of new buses brought into the JUTC fleet to 275 in just two years.
Meanwhile, Minister Vaz says the previously procured set of 100 buses is already having a positive impact on public transport.
He says the number of people using the JUTC and Montego Bay Metro has increased. He says there has also been a reduction in the wait time for buses.
