Respected journalist, Dervan Malcolm, is dead.
Malcolm is understood to have died on Thursday after battling illness.
Dervan Malcolm was an outstanding broadcaster who established himself as one of the foremost voices on Power 106 FM over a 31 year stint.
A former Calabar High school head boy, Malcolm read for a Bachelor of Arts in French at the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies between 1994 and 1998.
He was a versatile presenter and host.
Over his three decade long career in media, Malcolm served at various points as news presenter, news editor, sportscaster, talk show producer, talk show host and quizmaster.
He also built a reputation as an outstanding master of ceremonies for various functions and formal events.
Malcolm was a firm favourite with Jamaicans in the diaspora and was awarded by Team Bickle Jamaica for his excellence in journalism and service to Diasporans.
On his Linkedin page he described himself as, “the Consummate Communicator anxious to make a difference and doing so with excellence.”
Dervan Malcolm is survived by his estranged wife, father, sister and other relatives.
