Haiti has indefinitely postponed its elections which were set to be held later this year.
Haiti has not held elections since 2016, and its last president, Jovenel Moise, has not been replaced since being assassinated in 2021.
The first round of presidential and legislative elections was set for December 13, and the second round for February 21, 2027.
The Provisional Electoral Council has not mentioned a new election date.
It adds that the timetable will be made public as soon as possible.
But, the council has extended the deadline for candidates to register and submit required documents to October 31.
