As the country continues the process of recovery following the passage of Hurricane Beryl, there’s an urgent appeal to not neglect the elderly.
Executive Director of the Mona Ageing Institute, Professor Denise Eldemire-Shearer wants attention to be paid to the hydration needs of the elderly especially in light of water restrictions in several communities.
The ageing expert says keen attention is to be paid to the state of food in refrigerators that can be accessed by the elderly.
Meanwhile, with the absence of electricity remaining a topical issue in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, Professor Eldemire-Shearer is appealing to relatives of the elderly to make sure that medication is kept in the right condition.
