The sale of super-yacht Alfa Nero, believed to be owned by Russian fertiliser tycoon Andrey Guryev, has moved a step closer with the government in Antigua and Barbuda issuing an official notice of intention to do so.

The notice, signed by Port Manager Darwin Telemaque and sent to local media, declares the luxury 2-hundred-and-67 foot vessel to be abandoned.

The Alfa Nero, which is worth about 80-million US dollars, has been languishing in Antiguan waters for over a year with the Gaston Browne government claiming it poses both an environmental and a security risk.

It’s understood that interested buyers have already offered bids in the region of 50-million US dollars for the vessel.
