Councillor for the Balaclava Division in St. Elizabeth, Everton Fisher, is calling on the Mayor, Councillor Derrick Sangster, to address the backlog of garbage collection in several areas in the parish.

He says some communities have not had their garbage collected in months.

Councillor Fisher says he has reached out to the National Solid Waste Management Authority, NSWMA, for a solution but to no avail.

He says there have been criticisms of residents being careless with their garbage.

Fisher is suggesting that Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie, divert funds from the NSWMA to MPs and Councillors to resolve the issue.
