The Barbados Royals are the first team to book their spot in the playoffs of the 2022 Caribbean Premier League.

They did so yesterday by beating the the Guyana Amazon Warriors by 29 runs via the Duckworth Lewis method in their rain affected match.

Batting first, the Royals got to 107 for 6 in 16 overs. Jason Holder top scoring with an unbeaten 40 off 33 balls, Rakeem Cornwall was next best with 20. Chandrapaul Hemraj took 3 for 15, bowling for the Warriors.

In reply, the Warriors limped to 81 for 9 in their 16 overs, with only 3 batsmen getting into double figures. All rounder Odean Smith top scored with 15, while captain Shimron Hetmyer making 12.
Obed McCoy, Rakeem Cornwall and Ramon Simmons’s took two wickets each for the Royals, who now have 14 points from 8 games. Meanwhile the Warriors remain rooted at the foot of the table with 3 points from 6 games.

In the days other game, the St Lucia Kings, eked out an exciting one run win over home team the Trinbago Knight Riders.

The Kings batted first and posted 147 for 6 off their 20 overs with Johnson Charles slamming 54 and David Wiese (Visa) 33

There were two wickets each for Ravi Rampaul and Sunil Narine bowling for TKR.

I reply TKR entered the final over needing 21 for victory but fell a run short at 146 for 6.

Captain Kieron Pollard made 34 while Tim Seifert top scored with 44.

There 3 wickets for Roston Chase and Alzarri Joseph ended with 2 for 26.

With the win the Kings leap-frogged the Jamaica Tallawahs into second in the standings.

The league takes a two day break as the teams travel to Guyana for the next leg.
