At least 8 people have been killed since the start of the year.
The Constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit, CCU is reporting that in one of the latest incidents, the body of a man was found with chop wounds on a dirt road in Beaston Spring home, Westmoreland.
In St. Andrew two men were shot dead in separate incidents.
Thirty-seven-year old Ruel Dawkins was gunned down in his community of Cooper’s Hill at about 7 am Monday morning.
And 23 year old Jenoi Bruce was shot and killed by unknown assailants in his Lyndhurst road community early yesterday.
Another man was stabbed to death allegedly by his step son in Spring Mount St. James, on Sunday night.
The dead man has been identified as 47 year-old Keith Robinson, a labourer of Barnett Bush in the parish.
Head of the St. James police Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth says the suspect has been taken into custody.
He’s believed to be of unsound mind.
And Hanover recorded two homicides on the first day of the year.
The bodies of two men were found in separate sections of the parish early Sunday morning.
They’ve been identified as 39 year-old Bruce Brown, a taxi operator of Kew District and 39 year old Tedford Grizzle of New Town district in Sandy Bay.
Both bodies had what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
And information from the CCU is that the other homicides took place in sections of the Corporate Area.
This includes two teenagers who were stabbed to death in separate incidents in St. Andrew on Sunday morning.
And, the St. Andrew South police say a man was shot and killed on Yacca Avenue in Kingston 11, on Sunday morning.
This, after he challenged police officers in a gun battle.
Head of the St. Andrew South police, Superintendent Arthur Brown says a 9 millimetre pistol was taken from the deceased.
