The board of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts and it’s Principal are on a collision course.

A board meeting last Friday reportedly turned contentious due to charged words between Principal Dr. Nicholeen Degrasse-Johnson and Chairman Marigold Harding.

That’s according to sources familiar with the meeting.

The board meeting was called as a result of comments made by Dr. Degrasse-Johnson at last week’s sitting of Parliament’s Public Administration and Appropriations Committee, PAAC.

Dr. Degrasse-Johnson told the PAAC that she received a formal complaint of sexual harassment against a lecturer at the institution almost two years ago.

Just two months ago, the lecturer in question, was again accused of sexual harassment.

However, Chairman Marigold Harding, expressed some shock upon hearing the revelation last week.

At that time, she told Nationwide News that Dr. Degrasse-Johnson failed to bring the two year old complaint to the attention of the board.

When contacted today, Mrs. Harding refused to comment.

She says she does not wish to prejudice the hearings on the sexual harassment allegations scheduled for this Friday.

Efforts to contact Dr Degrasse-Johonson were unsuccessful.
